In terms of religious, racial, economic and cultural diversity, are the people of this city or town diverse? Are they accepting of differences? Describe.

Not much diversity here. Largely white, affluent population. Strong Catholic and Jewish presence. We do have a strong native French population because of the excellent French-American school here.

What are the main industries in this city? What types of career opportunities commonly exist? How do most people find new jobs?

Everyone here seems to be lawyers or investment bankers who work in NYC. Larchmont itself does not have any particular industry. That's why our taxes are so high.

In general, what are peoples' priorities in this city? For example, do lives revolve around work, family, socializing, sports, etc.?

A hugely family-oriented town. Someone once said that if you're moving to Larchmont you'd better be pushing a stroller. It's true. There are lots of family activities sponsored by the town (4th of July, Halloween parade, bike tour through town in the fall, Turkey trot, etc) and there are so many parks and playgrounds where it's easy to meet other moms/families. It's also a very social town, in that we're so close to NYC for Saturday nights out; but also, lots of great restaurants in our area.

If a friend of yours was thinking of moving to this city or town from far away, what other advice would you give them.

If you love living near the water, like a small town feel with the advantage of being close to NYC, like the family-oriented town, you'd love it here.
