How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?
Two Great Libraries, Gym, Playgrounds, Sports Field, Performance Hall, Dance Studio, Mac Computer Lab and Multiple PC Labs, 3 Main Buildings (Campus shared with private Chinese school), all classrooms have A/C, all buildings newly renovated
Extra-curricular include:
High school and middle school, boys and girls Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, MUN, Band, Choir, Chess club, Photography club, Student newspaper, Broadcasting, Service club, Recycling club and more.
High School Honors Programs including, National Honor Society and National English Honor Society.
Elementary children have many offerings for after school activities including; ballet, soccer, baseball, band, drawing, Chinese games, Chinese dance, Korean games, computer usage and much more.
There are buses available to students after, after-school activities.
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
We came from a US based curriculum so the transition was easy for our children.
There are counselors available for all children There are transition programs available for all including a 3 day seminar for students finishing high school.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
The PTO is active and meets once a month. All are invited and encouraged to attend. The PTO committee is about 8-15 parents and open to any. The PTO sponsors a large Christmas Fair in December and Teacher Appreciation in May.
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
The classes are small and the teachers gladly meet with parents to help the children be placed academically and socially in the correct class. Please tell the staff of any concerns you have as they have been very helpful in resolving the concerns we had.
Older students are available for tutoring at a reasonable cost if needed.
As the other poster mentioned, this is a college prep school and most of the students are highly motivated, especially in the high school. This can prove challenging at time for some 'average' students.
This school also offers many AP courses for high school students.
