How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?
The facilities are very good and the view that they are there to educate the whole child is something that they take very seriously. Due to the wide countries of origin that their students have it has created a real international feel. Swimming, gymnastics, hockey, rugby, soccer, track, French club, Dutch club, netball, social club-open to all families who attend, the list is endless.
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
Coming from the US and my daughters being only in 2nd grade the amount of work and effort, whilst making it fun has been tremendious. They are now, after just 2 yrs there, equal academically to a 6th grader. The hands on method of teaching along with the self motivation encouragement has definately given them a huge advantage. The encourage accountability and responsibility has really made them very independent, self assured and confident.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
The school social club is good fun. Major events, such as the World Cup and other major sporting events really bring in a nice mix of fans and guests. The atmosphere during these maybe tense but never out of hand.
The parent teacher organization is very good and totally embraces those who are new to the area and truely makes them feel welcomed.
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
If your child is used to the American system do not be put off by the British one. Although quite different, your child can learn more from developing the important skills of self-assurance, confidence and accountability. After all, these are all things that we attempt to teach our children in order to go through University, so why not instill them at an early age and in a fun enviorment.
