An Expat Talks about What is Was Like Having a Baby in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Ecuador

Submitted by ResearchTeam

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Guayaquil, Ecuador

If a friend of yours living in the same country were expecting a baby, what advice would you give her?

Do your research on birthing practices and options in Guayaquil so that you can make informed decisions about where and how you'd like to give birth. Make sure that you bring a translator with you to all doctor visits, just in case there are language barriers. Be aware that most medical facilities in Guayaquil require payment upfront, so you should consider how you will pay for the delivery before you go in for labor and delivery. Lastly, build a strong support system among your friends and family so that you know you will have help when you need it.
