An Expat Talks about What is Was Like Having a Baby in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Submitted by ResearchTeam

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Puerto Vallarta

If a friend of yours living in the same country were expecting a baby, what advice would you give her?

It is important to research and understand the medical care and resources available to families expecting a baby in Puerto Vallarta. It is always helpful to have information from both healthcare professionals as well as other parents who have gone through the process before. Make sure to bring all of your medical records, as well as any necessary vaccinations for the baby, to Puerto Vallarta before the birth. Additionally, if you plan to deliver at a private hospital, be sure to ask about the fees and other associated costs in advance. Lastly, it is wise to learn some basic Spanish, even if you are not fluent, as it will make it easier to communicate with medical personnel, who may not all speak English.
