What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
The curriculum offered at ASIE is flexible to a degree. The ratio of students to teachers is very good. Most classes have between four and seven students. The elementary classes are somewhat larger. The administrative staff is very understanding, and the teachers are willing to go the extra mile, putting in extra time to help the students achieve their goals. The school offers an AP preparatory curriculum, culminating in AP classes for the senior high school students. However, plans are in place to also begin the IB program.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
There are many activities available for the parents. Our cafeteria is staffed by volunteer parents who distribute the catered food. Also, there are regular coffees and lunches in addition to a monthly meeting of the Parents' Association. There are also programs hosted by a parent such as scrapbooking or knitting clubs which vary as the parents enter and leave the school along with their children.
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
This school has a ton of potential. It is very young, so its numbers are not yet very high, but with time it will continue to thrive. The members of the ASIE community are such talented, multi-faceted people that there is never a role left unfilled for all our small numbers. There are great benefits to attending a school where the students are treated with such respect and given such personal attention. The teachers know their students very well, and they are able and willing to help each student achieve their potential.
