Parent's Review of American School of Paris in Paris, France
What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)
American School of Paris
In what town or city is this school located?
Paris
How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)
American
What grade levels are represented at this school?
k-12
How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)
Bus
How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?
The school has a large play area and fields. It has two gymnasiums and a new cafeteria. It offers most activities as the US but both my children were disappointed in the quality of the sports programs in the lower and middle schools although these programs are far better than other schools in the area. The sport programs are much better in the upper school. There is a wonderful music program with private lessons available after school.
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
My children came in after school had been in session for a few months. I don't think that anything extraordinary was done to ease the transition. I do not know about repatriation programs.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
There are several social activities for parents and an active PTA.
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
I think this school has a lot to offer our children due to vast resources available. They take frequent field trips which tie in with their classroom work. There is a lot of creative writing done at all grade levels which I think prepares them well for upper school and college.
