Parent's Review of Prem Tinsulanonda International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Prem Tinsulanonda International School

In what town or city is this school located?

Chiang Mai

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International

What grade levels are represented at this school?

Kindergarten-Grade 12

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Bus and private cars.

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Excellent facilities - 90 acre campus, Olympic-size pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, cricket pitch, gymnasium, great art rooms, beautiful gardens with lots of lots of trees. Good sized classrooms too. Boarders have apartments instead of dormitories so there are only 2 kids per room for Juniors, 1 kid per room for Grade 12.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

The school is an IB World School and we are confident that when we go back to our home country, our daughter will slot straight into either an IB school there or perhaps if we can stay long enough, she can go straight to University. The school is very well run, has strong results and our daughter is very happy there.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

Reasonably good atmosphere amongst the community despite Chiang Mai being so spread out, e.g.there are Saturday morning family mountain bike rides organised. As the school grows there are gradually more community events on offer. Since the school is still relatively small, most people know each other and you do still get a smile from most people when walking in and out of the school.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Just visit the school - you will be impressed. So peaceful, quiet, pretty and also a strong academic school. Easily the best in Chiang Mai.
