What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

As Brit Expats our daughter was born in the UAE, so no help with transition was necessary.

With regard to the repatriation, I'm not sure whether there is assistance as the question hasn't arisen for us.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

I should imagine it's very difficult trying to arrange something for a wide variety of nationalities/religions to ensure that enough people would partake to make it worthy. Also bear in mind that the School is within an Emirate that's 'dry' (no alcohol).

However, School plays have been open to the parents/friends during the day along with sports days and School Fetes.

The International Evening Buffet is being arranged for April.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Advice is difficult to give without a specific question. Each parent has different issues/boxes to tick with regard to what they want with regard to the education of their child/ren.

As a happy parent of a happy child that will be starting her 3rd year at VES in September, I'd just say that if you have a question at an interview or an open day - ASK - the staff are open, honest and professional :) Provided March, 2007
