Fantastic facilities for an urban school. There is and will continue to be a re-development of the school buildings. There is a new sports complex, canteen, Creative Arts Buidling with a theatre, and a purpose built early years centre. The campus is completely wireless with a state-of-the art tablet lap-top programme for students whis is well-integrated with the curriculum. Renovations will be started soon on the older, pre-existing buildings that the school inherited. Extra-curricular activities are extensive from sports, including gymanstics, swimming, basketball, football, etc. to club activities - environment, amnesty, yoga and meditation.
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
No relevant as my children have only attended NIST (no other school). It is a great school where they meet loads of nationalities. NIST provides an orientation ofr new students and has extensive counelling servies for both elementary and secondary students.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
The parent teacher association is very active and celebrates various multi-cultural activites through out the year as well as organizing welcome coffees, quiz nights and other events. There are also various nationality groups, i.e. the German Speaking Group, Japanene Parents Group, Korean Parents Group and more. You can choose the involvement you want with the school - whether volunteering directly through the classroom teacher or through the Associaton and/or Class Reps.
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
No need to look at another school if you want a truly interntional education for your child at one of the most respected IB schools in Asia.
