What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

CHARTER COLLEGE INTERNATIONAL

In what town or city is this school located?

Johannesburg

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

British, Cambridge

What grade levels are represented at this school?

IGCSE + A Levels

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Mostly dropped off by parents. Some use the school bus from the Preparatory School.

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

The school is still growing and extra facilities are always being built. There are 8 classrooms, a science lab, library, tuckshop, computer room.

Facilities are good, newly built, good fittings and equipment.

Sport is limited; tennis, two courts, girls soccer, soccer, netball, cricket, speech and drama club.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

The school is a registered Cambridge school and offers qualifications that are accepted at local and international universities.

There is a good mix of local and expat kids from a variety of backgrounds.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

A very open relationship with parents and the Head. No formal parent-teacher organizations, but lots of contact with teachers. Good and bad news!

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

The Cambridge qualifications are very flexible and give the students a lot of opportunities for study abroad.

A fairly traditional school w.r.t. uniforms (blazers and straw boaters)and manners etc.

Academic standards are quite high and they expect a lot from the kids.(not a bad thing) A super atmosphere around the school, the kids are happy.
