Brasilia

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

American

What grade levels are represented at this school?

PreK-12th

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

American Embassy children has a bus provided for them. There are other buses for other children, and parents drive them.

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

The facilities at this school are below average. No swimming pool, or auditorium. There are extra-curricular activities for the children, which seem to be very good.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

They have an orientation day, but we came in the middle of the year, so we were not involved with this.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

We are not involved with the social events of the school, nor the PTA. They just started the PTA last year.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

There are not many choices of schools here in Brasilia with an American curriculum. Last year this school was terrible. This year with a new headmaster, the school seems to be improving. I still believe it needs alot of improvement with the curriculum. I would say if I had to rate this school, (I can only speak for the lower school) it is adequate, but not great.
