How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Not much above the necessary. Classrooms have basic functions, with 2 computer labs and a few interactive whiteboards. Play area and changing rooms far too small. Desks are falling to pieces in many rooms and lockers have to be rented. Text books have to be bought. Science equipment is basic.

There is extra curricula activities on Thursday, but it used to be twice a week. Some sporting clubs after school, but no clubs at lunchtime. There is no music in senior school, and drama is very occasional.

Once exams are over, most pupils don't come back for rest of term because nothing happens in class!!

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

In terms of literacy the pupils are not pushed hard, since majority of teachers do not speak English as a first language. Pupils follow British national curriculum, but a lot get extra tutoring after school, so shows the lack of depth provided. No programmes for repatriation - pupils usually just leave at end of term

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

Parents in junior school are involved more, as in any school, but at Mutiara there is clearly a suspicion about parental involvement. No opportunities for parents to be involved. PTA actively vetoed by the owners.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Compared to local schools it is ok, but literacy not up to local standard. A lot of the curriculum is irrelevant to needs of the pupils. Compared to other international schools and their achievements, Mutiara is a very poor second.
