Parent's Review of Numont in Madrid, Spain
What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)
Numont
In what town or city is this school located?
Madrid
How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)
British/Spanish
What grade levels are represented at this school?
K3-6th grade
How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)
car, bus
How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?
The facilities are non-existent. No attempt has been made to acquire more land for the ever-increasing number of students. The children attend classes in temporary buildings which have long become permanent. They sit in cramped classrooms and have virutally no playground.
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
Absolutely not
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
There is no dialogue between the school and the parents. Complaints about the dangerous traffic, the lack of space and the cramped conditions go unheard. When asked about a PTO, the school responds that this is not the United States. As a resident of Spain, I am aware that it isn't the US, but many other international schools here have strong parent/teacher organizations. Numont does not.
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
This is a transition school and appropriate only for the very young. The level of English is quite good, but there is no room to run around. I took out my son after 2 years.
