British School of Amsterdam
In what town or city is this school located?
Amsterdam
How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)
British
What grade levels are represented at this school?
Nursery to Year 13
How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)
many cycle, others walk and there is a bus service but this is costly.
How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?
Reasonable facilities although the school is spread over several sites with one being quite a distance from the others. Seems to be well resourced. Lots of choice with the extra curricular activities.
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
My child settled quickly into the school and really enjoyed their time in the primary school. There are a lot of nationalities in the school and this leads to an enriching learning experience.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
The school has/is going through a lot of problems and a small group of parents have caused a lot of disruption and problems leading to a lot of staff absence and general unhappiness and ill feeling.
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
Whilst there are many good points with the problems in the school at the present time I would look strongly at the alternatives to avoid being caught up in the issues.
