Parent's Review of HIS Hanoi International School in Hanoi, Vietnam

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

HIS Hanoi International School

In what town or city is this school located?

Hanoi

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International, IBO

What grade levels are represented at this school?

Pre-k to IBO

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Most of the chilldren take school buses, but some are coming by their private drivers.

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

The facilities at the school are not the best BUT! to be a part of the HIS family is a wonderful experience. We have been at 3 international schools, but this one is really the BEST! Everyone knowns one another, all the teachers knows the students, there's no trouble and no fighting! Everyone, small and big, gets along very well, and they are thought to take care of eachother and enjoy, and that the school should be a place for everyone. There's a very bg famous school UNIS here in Hanoi, which has a lot of outdoor facilities, but that school is one big factory whwre you sign in and come out, without any social abilities! HIS is a small school - ad yes - it lack a lot of facilities, BUT the students learn so very much both academically and socially!

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

Every child that are admitted to HIS has a long talk and a test to see, if the need any ESL or other kind of support.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

At HIS there's a very well working PTA org. and the school as weel as the PTA does a lot of social activities. That's really what makes the HIS on big family!

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

I would have a long talk to someone from the PTA and ofcourse the headmaster or the admin people. Everyone at this school is very friendly and wil give your answers to all of your questions. But be aware there are long wainting list for some of the classes so do not hesitate to enroll.
