Parent's Review of Agora Portals in Mallorca, Spain

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Agora Portals

In what town or city is this school located?

Mallorca

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International

What grade levels are represented at this school?

3-18 years

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

car, school bus

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Some facilities are very good, many promised in the opening of the school in 2008 are still in progress - tennis courts, football field, etc.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

Nothing, the school is for residents with no provision for transitioning students

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

No PTA. Occasionally parents are invited to participate in school trips and sporting activities

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

If your child is bright and can keep up with the trilingual and musical requirements then consider this school. If not then it will disappoint. Children who do not keep up in music are dumped from the course, those who cannot speak Catalan well will not manage science either as this is taught in Catalan. The school professes to develop all children to their highest potential - do not believe the hype - slower children are not welcome and their is no real help for them, in spite of what they say. Finally - check the invoices - they systematically overcharge.
