Parent's Review of Kiettisack International School in Vientiane, Laos

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Kiettisack International School

In what town or city is this school located?

Vientiane

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International

What grade levels are represented at this school?

Pre-Year 12

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

There is a school bus available for pick up and drop off. Depending on where you live though your child could be in for a long ride. The cost for this bus can be expensive. I personally drive my children to school each day.

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

The facilities I think are ok. The often have "discos" for the children (Halloween Dance, Valentines Dance etc)... There is also something called "Friday Club". On a Friday afternoon the younger children get to go bowling, swimming or an ice cream! (Depends on the weather)...

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

Not really. My children though took a test to see what grade they would be better suited going in to before starting classes.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

There are none.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

I think this school is great. My kids seem to be enjoying it so that is the main thing! It's much cheaper than other International Schools in Vientiane! (In saying that it doesnt mean the teaching/school work etc is of low standard!!)...

The teachers are easy to approach, most are foreign (Australian, English, American etc ALL speak english), so if you have concerns you can approach your childs teacher for a meeting.

The school staff are very helpful! If you have in issue dropping your kids off to school or bringing them home, the school can arrange a "one off" bus ride home for them.

My kids have now been going there for 8 months and actually look forward to going to school! Im impressed!!
