Parent's Review of Pan American International School in Asuncion, Paraguay

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Pan American International School

In what town or city is this school located?

Asuncion

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

American and International

What grade levels are represented at this school?

K3 to 12th

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

car or school bus

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

It is a six hectare garden with a school - including a pond and poney! Extra curricular sports, arts, ESL, etc. For parents: the best club for foreigners, an even bigger garden, is just two blocks down the street, with tenis, golf, pools, horse riding, etc.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

It was not needed in our case. There is an extra class in the end of the school day for students who need special assistance of any kind - at no additional charge.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

There is a parents association and most (all?) teachers have their kids at school so... The school organizes various kids-parents activities during the year, like the UN/International Day, Paraguayan Day and Sports Tournaments with other schools, among others.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

PAIS is by far your best choice in Paraguay. The headmaster has a PhD in education, the classes are in English, the kids are from at least 20 countries, almost all graduates go to the school of their choice (anywhere in the world) and most repatriates are bored due to being more advanced.
