Salalah

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

British

What grade levels are represented at this school?

Foundation to year 5

By private transport & by school bus

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

3 spacious classrooms with about 15 students/ classroom

3 teachers

1 teaching assistant per classroom

Grassy play area/ cricket / soccer field

Extra curricular activities: soccer, cricket, board games etc. Vary from time to time. There are regular school outings that combine fun and educational purpose

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

All the kids are from different backgrounds so for most of them English is a second language. So a lot of focus is put on the language skills. The children get a lot of individual attention due to the good student/ teacher/ teaching assistant ratio.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

There is a PTA but it's not very active. There is a play at least 1x per year and parents are encouraged to come and cheer during sports days.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

The British School Salalah is small but very intimate. This is especially good if English is not your child's first language. The British Curriculum is followed and the level of education seems to be high.
