Parent's Review of Cambridge English School in Hawali, Kuwait

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Cambridge English School

In what town or city is this school located?

Hawali

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

British they say

What grade levels are represented at this school?

KG - Grade 11

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Bus, Walk, Cars

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Poor facilities in relation to school fee. Some of the teachers are very good. There isn't proper ventilation in the play ground area and sometimes there is an odd smell. There are a few extra curricular activities but they do not last for long, just once a week for about 2 months. Again some of the extra curricular activities teachers are very good and others are very poor with terrible accents.

Students can not express themselves in English well enough but the education they get is fairly good.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

They started here so i can't really tell but i guess they can do a much better job if they put in just a little bit of effort. The management has changed though so i hope things will get better. Hopefully.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

No, not really, you just get to meet the teacher during parents day, usually Saturdays and then she updates you on how your child is doing. I guess also they need to put in some more effort and variety for the KG and Reception as they hardly do much work untill they get to year one.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

It is not a bad school at the end of the day but it could get better and i guess it can especially now that mgmt has changed, i hope they can add some extra curricular activities and get the kids to be more creative. Also they need some more facilities. If you are lucky to get a good teacher, your child will be alright there. And there is no perfect school in Kuwait.
