Most children in primary school are being driven by their parents in their car. Most secondary school children bike to school.
How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?
The school started in September 2011. So, the school, the curriculum and the facilities are brand new. The extra curricular activities like after school activities are courses in song writing, percussion, etc.
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
The school is still small, the teachers are very sympathetic and open to each child's needs and demand. My child came from an international school in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The atmosphere there was very friendly, open and informal. The curriculum was still in progress and the children did projects for each subject. My child feared the change to the Dutch teaching system. The ISB has been wonderful in assisting Her in the transition from Indonesia to The Netherlands. She feels loved and cared for, accepted the way she is, and she is opening up as she is gaining self confidence.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
There are regular coffee mornings, sometimes with themes and speakers from outside. Furthermore there are parent-teachers conferences and regular evenings for parents to nform them about the curriculum, school activities, etc. This Thursday an international educationalist is coming to school. Parents are invited to join the programme.
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
I would recommend the ISB very highly, especially because of the high commitment of the teachers and the very positive and enthousiastic way they teach the children. Next to this, the atmosphere at the school, also among the children is very caring and sweet.
