Parent's Review of Wells International School in Bangkok, Thailand

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Wells International School

In what town or city is this school located?

Bangkok

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

Advertised as international, however entirely Asian, accent put on Thai and Japanese culture

What grade levels are represented at this school?

Nursery to Grade 12

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Very comfortable school vans.

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Outstanding facilities (pool, music studio, nice playground and kids fun zone for kids, nice cafeteria etc.)

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

No but as my child is doing Kindergarten it does not really matter. She will be 2-3 years in advance compared to children back home in Sweden but that's not really a concern.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

Too many! As I work I could not join half of them. Mothers day, fathers day, sports day, chrismas show,Loy Krathong assembly, Songkran assembly, teachers day, Japanese children day etc etc Several PTAs, including a Japanese one.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

The school is excellent, especially given the fee structure which is much lower than in other schools. However you need not to be prejudiced against Asian culture. Because the schools accepts so many Japanese students in Kindergarten, it lowers the general level of English spoken. On the other hand, the academic level is very high. My daughter was able to read/write fluent in K2. Teachers are very dedicated and seem to love their work. I recommend that school.
