What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
JIS has 'moving on' programs at the end of each semester for kids who are either going to another posting or back to their home country. Not sure if it helps them 'repatriate or not. But, I do feel that the transition from our home country to Indonesia curriculum is smooth for the kids coming to Jakarta International School.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
Parents are very involved in PTA, Booster Hut, School Council, Community Sport volunteers i.e. coaching, refing, organzing.. there are Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts various grade level coffee mornings, mentoring...
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
I believe your child would be quite happy at JIS and the kids are quick to include new kids and get them acquainted with others and the school and environment.
