Parent's Review of International School of Paris in Paris, France
What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)
International School of Paris
In what town or city is this school located?
Paris
How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)
International
What grade levels are represented at this school?
Pre K through 12
How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)
Metro, bus (public) or walk
How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?
Small campus but with creative resources (for example: because the gymnasium is very small the physical education classes are often held at local public stadiums and swimming pools). Extra-curricular activities include: Model United Nations, Sports, drama club, literary magazine, yearbook...
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
The transition was fairly easy. The International School is a British system with an IB program. It is somewhat different from the US public education, but it wasn't a huge difference for the children. We know of no repatriation program.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
There is a PTA. Many of the parents get together informally to socialize and support one another. We are almost all expats and the few French parents that have children at the school are empathatic to the expat experience and are very helpful!
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
Visit the campus. Talk to the Headmaster. It is a unique school and is wonderful for most kids, but isn't for everyone, so you really need to know your own child's needs.
