Parent's Review of Mahatma Gandhi International School in Manila, Philippines

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Mahatma Gandhi International School

In what town or city is this school located?

Manila

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International school

What grade levels are represented at this school?

K to 12

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Mostly by car, but there is a bus service available as well.

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

This is a small school but facilities are adequate. They have a basketball court and football field. Library is small. Different extra-curricular activities are offered every term.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

This is a small school, with around 12-15 kids per class. One class per grade level. There is no PTA in this school.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

If you have a child with special needs or learning difficulties, DO NOT enroll your child in this school. Contrary to the school's philosophy, the school culture is not one of tolerance, compassion and acceptance. They seem like an inclusive school in their website, but don't be fooled. The community (parents, children) is very judgmental and intolerant of anyone who is different. The resource room staff is incompetent. The administration is NOT supportive at all, especially the Headmaster. It is ironic that this school operates in such a manner, given that the school is named after a man who promoted tolerance and compassion.
