The school is located in a Georgian building in Blackrock (lots of character to it), in an enclosed domain with lots of space for the children to play. There is a choice of extra curricular activities available, ranging from private music lessons, to language lessons, science club, and sports activities.
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
We have moved about quite a lot. My daughter has settled into this school very well. The inquiry based way of learning has really brought out the best in her: she was a shy girls when we arrived here from a very big international school in China and has blossomed into a confident girl. We haven't moved on to a new country from this school, but for other parents the principal has always been very mindful of children moving on to a different curriculum, helping and testing where and if necessary.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
We have a close knit community, with both Irish and international parents. There is a group of parents who regularly organizes a night out. There is a lot of parental involvement in the school. Every 6 weeks parents come into the school to see what their children have been learning. Parents come in to help practice reading for the kids learning to read, we have a parent who helps out in the library, with art classes.
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
Go and visit the school! You will be amazed by the warmth and the high level of learning of the children.
