Parent's Review of Faith Academy in Cainta, Rizal, Philippines
What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)
Faith Academy
In what town or city is this school located?
Cainta, Rizal
How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)
International Christian School. Student body comes from 20+ different countries. 90% of teachers are expats.
What grade levels are represented at this school?
PreK to 12
How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)
School Service or private vehicles
How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?
Excellent facilities. State of the art auditorium, spacious classrooms, two swimming pools (we loved that they are available for casual use after school and weekends), separate libraries for elementary and secondary schools with a combined collection of 46,000+ volumes, multiple computer rooms, three level playground for elementary, etc.
As for extracurricular activities . . . performing arts, athletics, academic bowls, national honor society, model united nations, and more but that is all that comes to mind right now.
I have had 5 children go to this school. Our two oldest boys were involved in Soccer, Volleyball, Rugby and Basketball. For sports, our boys not only had local tournaments but also traveled to other countries in Asia to compete in regional tournaments. Both boys were also involved in Student Council, band or orchestra, and National Honer Society (a U.S. organization that honors outstanding students),
Our younger children seem to be going the route of performing arts. Our 5th grader has taken up violin and will be performing with the school orchestra later this week. She will also be on on stage with our 3rd grader in April during the production of Beauty and the Beast.
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
The transition for us (who are from the U.S). was easy because the curriculum is mostly Western. The school offers Advanced Placement courses in high school, (recognized in America) as well as ICGSE courses (Europe) and a Korean Studies program.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
There are many opportunities for parents to connect and interact. The Faith Academy community is very close knit, as most of the families are expats and tend to identify with and support each other.
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
This is a CHRISTIAN school and the main objective is to "develop Christ-like, lifelong learners". Regardless of whether or not you are Christian, If you want your children to learn values and develop godly moral character then this is definitely the best school in Manila for that. The teachers are passionate about growing kids closer to God, and the quality of education they delivery is just excellent. The only drawback I can think of to this school is that it is an English Only campus with 90% expat children, so you do not get to immerse in the Filipino culture as much as in a Filipino school. However, all children go through Tagalog classes through every year in elementary and it is also offered in High School as one of the options to meet the foreign language requirement. I think there is an "email" link at the top somewhere -- please feel free to ask me any questions. I would love to see more families going to this school. [email protected]
