Parent's Review of Ermitage International School of France in Maisons Laffitte, France

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Ermitage International School of France

In what town or city is this school located?

Maisons Laffitte

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International

What grade levels are represented at this school?

K-12

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Walk, bus, car

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Poor facilities. Good extra-curriculars for international english section. None for the college.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

Nothing. It has been extremely difficult. The international English section is good with warm teachers snd support. The college however is a real challenge. The new principal is good however she battles with an inflexible school structure and teachers. Often teachers are absent and no plans are made for the children. Very little to no support for children adjusting to new country or language. Can make for quite a traumatic time for child nd family. No programs for repatriation.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

No I believe it was disbanded. No social activities for parents. School, at least the college, definitely not at the centre of any community.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

International section is good and would recommend it. However would definitely not recommend it for younger ones especially if they do not speak french. We regret it despite come nice teachers. On the whole a rigid, disciplinarian, inflexible school which has completely turned my child against France! I only hope next year my child can recover his self-esteem, curiosity and interest in learning.
