International school with an American based curriculum. After school language programmes are offered for Dutch and German children (on campus).

Pre-1 to grade 12

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

The school is housed in several buildings on the same compound in a quiet residential neighborhood. The facilities are not purpose build, but the school is housed here until a new school building will be found or build. The pre-school and kindergarten is housed in a very friendly building/house with a beautiful playground. Elementary school is housed in 2 similar buildings with, unfortunately, small classrooms. Because of this classroom sizes are limited to 12 children, although this does allow the teacher to have more time per child. There is a library, music room, and art room. Playground for elementary is not very big. Middle and Highschool are located on a separate compound on the same street as the main campus. Different extra-curricular activities are organized like sports, arts, languages, and singing.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

The school where our children went to before sent a detailed report about our childrens learning style, personality and academic level. There are no specific programmes that prepair the children for repatriation, but the school also will write a report to be sent to the new school. An ESL teacher is available for children whose English is not fluent. The school will start MAP testing in elementary grades which allows you to compare your childs academic levels with that of other international schools.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

There is a very active Parent-teacher organization with monthly meetings. The PTO organizes activities for all families (like annual picknick), for parents (welcoming event, international food gala, ..) and a fair to raise funds for school activities.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

ISK receives accreditation of the CIS (counsal of International schools) in June 2013 and also offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses in the higher grades. It is a truly international school with attention for all childrens cultural backgrounds. The teachers are all qualified and have experience in teaching in international schools. The Pre-school and Kindergarten use a Montessori based curriculum and have qualified teachers. Teachers working for ISK are from different countries from Europe, United States, Asia and Africa, are all qualified and have experience in teaching in international schools. I have three children in the school and all three go to school happy and learn a lot, and academically their levels are similar to other accredited international schools.
