Parent's Review of American Creativity Academy in Hawalli, Kuwait

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

American Creativity Academy

In what town or city is this school located?

Hawalli

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

American

What grade levels are represented at this school?

k-12

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Drivers - these are wealthy Kuwaitis who hire Third World drivers.

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Very poor - The boys and girls campuses are old local buildings that were renovated. This is a for-profit school organization. No extra-curricular activities except soccer - no music, art, drama, science clubs. Everything focuses around Islam and going to pray. There are no international students. All Kuwaiti. The curriculum isn't even like an American curriculum as many or most of the teachers are Canadian and don't teach like the American teachers.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

We were teachers at the school so my child had us to lean on. Otherwise, there was nothing!

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

Many indoctrination to Islam-type meetings. That was pretty much it. Lots of hype - silly stuff - again mostly about Islamic values ... mostly put down of American values.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Don't! It is not accredited, teacher turn-over is great, administrative turn-over unreal. Infighting between the foreign and Islamic staff. No freedom of thought. Intolerable spoiled Kuwaiti students who's parents demand only grade A.
