How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

The school works with local school De Kleine Icarus to share premises and services, which allows a new, small school to have all of the amenities of a larger, more established school. The building is part of the Ledeganck campus of University College Ghent, which also houses a teacher training department. After school clubs are available in French and Yoga.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

The school is welcoming to students from all nationalities and at all levels of English. The International Primary Curriculum, a widely-used, enquiry-based program. IPC allows new pupils to quickly integrate into our school from any other education system and vice versa. ISG follows Cambridge Primary framework for English and Maths. In addition Primary English as a Second Language Curriculum Framework provides a clear guidance where learners may not have sufficient literacy skills in English. Cambridge Primary Curriculum provides a natural progression through the six years of primary education as well as a valuable structure that focuses on what children should be able to do at each of the primary stages.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

There is an active PTA, which organizes events and activities at the school, including Bingo Night, International Night, and others.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Contact the school at [email protected] as soon as you know that you will be arriving in Belgium so that they can begin the process of getting enrolled. Join the PTA once your child is enrolled so that you can meet other families.
