Parent's Review of St. John's International in Brussels, Belgium

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

St. John's International

In what town or city is this school located?

Brussels

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International - American, British, Scandanavian largest percentages.

What grade levels are represented at this school?

Pre-K through 12

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Bus and Car

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Facilities are excellant. Sports fields were lacking but now are newly constructed as well as new science wing and gymnasium. Pre-K and Kindergarten is separate are adjacent to school and is fabulous with great teachers. The staff is excellent. We loved it!

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

The cirriculum is excellent. My daughter started slow as she did not have pre-school since we were traveling. She had a lot of one on one until they got her to the class level and she quickly was able to excel through all the support she received. They are very conscious of each child and their needs both emotionally and academically. The french program was the only weakness as kids attending for many years were still not fluent.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

There is an active PTA and parents are welcome to volunteer as much as they can as well. Many activities are designed to celebrate the different cultures represented in the school. The activities were well planned and made it easy to get to know people. They have a "welcome wagon" parent who calls prior to the start of school to answer any questions and will walk you to your classes on the first day as well!

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Go for it!
