Parent's Review of Garden International School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Garden International School

In what town or city is this school located?

Kuala Lumpur

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

Follows British Curriculum

What grade levels are represented at this school?

Kindergarten to sixth form

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

School buses from most parts of the city, but many also come by car. School is situated in area where many ex-pats live which makes it very convenient.

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Facilities are good without being brilliant. Really good ethos within the school, kids enjoy being there and work hard. Wide range of extracurricular and sporting facilities, International award (Duke of Edinburgh) and school jouneys and camps

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

School has a good mix of local and expat children. New students seem to be integrated well. School follows UK national curriclum including key stage tests, GCSEs and A levels, so reintegration back to the UK should be easy (I hope!)

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

PTF involved a lot in school events, parents encouraged to come into the school during the day, at least in the primary section. Not much in the way of separate social events for parents.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Would recommend it for parents wanting a UK based system. The school has a real buzz and the integration of local and expat students works well
