Parent's Review of Greengates School in Mexico City, Mexico

Submitted by pilarsalazar

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Greengates School

In what town or city is this school located?

Mexico City

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

A huge disappointment

What grade levels are represented at this school?

K-12

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

By bus

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

It is a small school, classrooms are small and need new desks and new chairs.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

Nothing. The communities are well apart. Japanese, Korean communities stick together. Parents do not participate in the school life.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

The PTA is useless. There is an international fair.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Look at other schools. It is worth it. 38 teachers left in 2013, the administration is hidden in an office. The headmaster, jonathan Robins has no qualification what so ever for the job. The new teachers do not work as a team, and it does not help when your child is in 11grade or 12 grade. It is way too expensive for what it is. We are not sure the kids are happy now/
