Submitted by saha

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Bjorn's International School

In what town or city is this school located?

Copenhagen

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International

What grade levels are represented at this school?

Age 6 to 16

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

All

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Very limited facilities - small playgroundand school does not have sports facilities of its own. Science equipment is useless. There is a small computer room with very old computers but the kids are told to bring their own laptops to school.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

Nothing whatsoever. Once we paid our money the scool was not interested in even answering our questions.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

There are no social activities. There are no international parents on the school board, only Danish ones.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Steer clear of this school. The school principal is only interested in your money. The teachers are unprofessional. Once you sign up for a place you cannot withdraw your child from the school without forfeiting TWO YEARS of school fees. Our daughter was bullied by some older boys and the school did nothing. In the end we had to take her out of the school and get trauma counseling for her. The principal forced us to pay for the next school year after she'd left and threarened us with legal action when we questioned this. This horrible experience has colored our perception of Denmark as a country. We will NEVER come back.
