What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Braeburn Gitanga

In what town or city is this school located?

Nairobi

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

British curriculum International School

What grade levels are represented at this school?

Pre-School - 13

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Car or bus

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

The School has a lot if facilities: Sports field, tennis, astro turf, swimming pool, basket court, theatre. They offer a reasonsbly good selection of extracurricular activities. Some good. Some really not so good - variable teacher efforts determine quality.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

I have children in the primary School and the high School. The primary School has been truly fantastic. Great understanding, extra support and great teacher-parent contact to quickly bring the new kids to a point of confidence. The hightschool can best be described as poor in this area. We have seen very litte help. Little understanding of the struggles that the children have had and a noticable lack of Imterest in parent-teacher comminication and collaboration. Commincation between teachers about the needs of individual students in their transition is completely lacking.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

Covid has not allowed for it. Primary School sends news letters and videos for information on what is going on. And that is really nice. While the High School does absolutely nothing.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

I Would definitely put mye primary School children into Braeburn. I would advise you to see if there are other options for the high School.
