Not recommended: come with your stuff sight unseen and move in. You might hate the rental place, hate the area or hate your new house you just bought. It is much easier to adjust if you have not made big decisions sight unseen. It will be helpful to size up lifestyle and climate before you pay to bring lots of stuff that may not be useful. Recycling companies pay for cardboard here like they pay for aluminum cans in the USA so it is a commodity. You may need to discuss and if necessary pay a little to get boxes. They are not nuisance trash. I bought a few large plastic tubs with no lids, kind of like a laundry basket, about $4 at store and used them. Also if moving furniture, pack stuff in each drawer. It was definitely different for me, but big quantities of cardboard boxes are not available here. I also used big plastic shopping bags for part of stuff., Ecuador
