An Expat Talks about Moving to Bahia de Caraquez, Ecuador, Ecuador

Submitted by ResearchTeam

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Bahia de Caraquez, Ecuador

What advice would you give someone preparing to move to your area about the actual move, choosing a neighborhood and finding a home?

It is wise for expats who plan to move to Bahia de Caraquez to become educated about the climate, culture, and language of the area before arriving. It is recommended that expats learn some Spanish before moving, as the primary language spoken in Bahia is Spanish with some areas using an indigenous language called Chocho more prevalently. Bahia de Caraquez enjoys warm weather throughout most of the year, but rain showers can be frequent in the wet season between December and April. Expats should also be aware of their surroundings at all times, as Ecuador has a high crime rate and this area is no exception.
