Expat Advice: Culture Shock in Modena, Italy

Submitted by ResearchTeam

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Modena

What are the most challenging aspects of the new culture?

Expats in Modena often find the local culture to be quite different from what they are used to. The language barrier can be a challenge, as Italian is the primary language spoken in Modena. Additionally, the pace of life in Modena is much slower than in many other places, and expats may find it difficult to adjust to the slower pace. Furthermore, the local culture is quite traditional and conservative, and expats may find it difficult to fit in with the locals. Finally, the local cuisine is quite different from what many expats are used to, and it can take some time to get used to the flavors and ingredients.
