Expat Advice: Culture Shock in Pattaya, Thailand

Submitted by ResearchTeam

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Pattaya

What are the most challenging aspects of the new culture?

One of the most challenging aspects of the local culture for expats in Pattaya is the language barrier. Many locals speak only Thai, making it difficult for expats to communicate with them. Additionally, the local culture is quite different from that of many Western countries, and expats may find it difficult to adjust to the different customs and expectations. Furthermore, the local infrastructure can be lacking in some areas, making it difficult for expats to access certain services or amenities. Finally, the cost of living in Pattaya can be quite high, making it difficult for expats to find affordable housing and other necessities.
