Expat Advice: Culture Shock in Brussels, Belgium

Submitted by ResearchTeam

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Brussels

What are the most challenging aspects of the new culture?

Expats in Brussels often find the language barrier to be one of the most challenging aspects of the local culture. With the city being a bilingual hub, many locals are fluent in both French and Dutch, making it difficult for expats to communicate. Additionally, the city's complex bureaucracy can be difficult to navigate, as many of the processes are not well-documented or easily accessible. Furthermore, the cost of living in Brussels is quite high, making it difficult for expats to adjust to the local lifestyle.
