Expat Advice: Culture Shock in Antalya, Turkey

Submitted by ResearchTeam

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Antalya

What are the most challenging aspects of the new culture?

One of the most challenging aspects of the local culture for expats in Antalya is the language barrier. Many locals speak Turkish, and while some may be able to communicate in English, it is not as widely spoken as in other parts of the world. Additionally, the local customs and traditions can be difficult to understand and navigate for those who are not familiar with them. Expats may also find it difficult to adjust to the more conservative dress code and social norms that are common in the area. Finally, the local cuisine can be quite different from what expats are used to, and it can take some time to get used to the flavors and ingredients.
