Expat Advice: Culture Shock in Khemisset, Morocco

Submitted by ResearchTeam

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Khemisset

What are the most challenging aspects of the new culture?

One of the most challenging aspects of the local culture for expats in Khemisset is the language barrier. Many locals speak only Arabic or Berber, and it can be difficult for expats to communicate with them. Additionally, the local customs and traditions can be quite different from those of other countries, and expats may find it difficult to adjust to the new culture. Furthermore, the local cuisine can be quite different from what expats are used to, and it can take some time to get used to the flavors and ingredients. Finally, the climate in Khemisset can be quite extreme, with hot summers and cold winters, and expats may find it difficult to adjust to the changing temperatures.
