Expat Advice: Culture Shock in Tarnazsadany, Hungary

Submitted by ResearchTeam

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Tarnazsadany

What are the most challenging aspects of the new culture?

Common challenges that expats face when moving to a new country include getting used to a different culture, language barriers, finding housing, learning transport systems, and adjusting to a new pace of life. Many expats feel homesickness, culture shock and loneliness, especially if they are without family or friends in their new location. Finding employment can also be a challenge for many expats, or understanding how to legally start a business or obtaining the correct permits and paperwork. In addition, medical care and health insurance may also be difficult to figure out, as well as understanding banking and financial systems. Expats may also find it difficult to find familiar food or goods, or lack of access to local services such as gym or entertainment.
