Expat Advice: Culture Shock in Orleans, France, France

Submitted by ResearchTeam

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Orleans, France

What are the most challenging aspects of the new culture?

Expats in Orleans may find the language barrier to be the most difficult part of acclimating to the local culture. Communicating with the locals and carrying out everyday tasks can be a challenge due to the language difference. Additionally, cultural differences, such as different customs, habits and norms, can take some adjusting to. Being in a smaller city also means fewer opportunities to network and make friends, which can be isolating for expats. Lastly, although Orleans has great public transportation, it is not always convenient in certain areas and relying on it can take some getting used to.
