Submitted by ResearchTeam

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Playa del Carmen

Did you "commit" any embarrassing or humorous cultural blunders? If you did and you'd like to share them, please do tell!

It is important to be respectful of the local culture when visiting Playa del Carmen. Therefore, it is important to be aware of and avoid certain cultural faux pas. To best ensure respect for the locals, one should avoid using language that is inappropriate or offensive, dress modestly while out in public, not touch anyone without their consent, and attempting to barter in markets, as this is considered highly disrespectful. Also, it is important to avoid negatively expressing opinions on local customs or challenging societal norms, as this can be seen as offensive to local people.
