Playa Grande itself is a beautiful, long stretch of white sand beach, perfect for sunbathing, beachcombing, and of course, surfing. The surf here is consistent year-round, making it a popular destination for both novice and experienced surfers. There are several surf schools in the area, such as Frijoles Locos Surf Shop & Spa and Playa Grande Surf Camp, offering lessons and equipment rentals.

Playa Grande's restaurant scene offers a variety of options, from local Costa Rican cuisine to international fare. One of the most popular spots is the RipJack Inn Restaurant, known for its delicious food, friendly service, and stunning tree-top views. They serve a mix of international and Costa Rican dishes, with a focus on fresh, local ingredients. Another favorite is El Huerto Pizzeria, which serves up gourmet pizzas in a relaxed, open-air setting. For a taste of local cuisine, try the Casado at Cafe del Pueblo, a traditional Costa Rican dish consisting of rice, beans, salad, and a choice of meat or fish. The nightlife in Playa Grande is laid-back and relaxed, reflecting the town's surf culture. Most of the action centers around the local restaurants and bars, many of which host live music events. For those who prefer land-based activities, horseback riding tours are a great way to explore the surrounding countryside. Companies like Black Stallion Eco Park & Estates offer guided tours on well-trained horses, suitable for all ages and experience levels.
