Welcome to Hastings! If you're planning to move to Hastings, congratulations on taking the first step towards a new adventure. While there are many things to think about before you leave, such as visas, housing, and transportation, it's important to remember that once you arrive, the fun really begins. In this article, we'll introduce you to some of the best sites, restaurants, and nightlife that Hastings has to offer, as well as provide tips on recreational activities and making friends in Hastings.

Hastings is a vibrant and lively area that offers a variety of attractions for both tourists and locals. One of the most popular sites is the Hastings Rocks, a beautiful seaside park that is perfect for picnics, strolls, and even outdoor concerts. The park also features a bandstand and a playground, making it a great place for families. The South Coast Boardwalk, which starts from Hastings, is another must-visit. This 1.6 km boardwalk offers stunning views of the ocean and is a great place for jogging, walking, or simply enjoying the sunset. The Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary, located nearby, is a haven for birdwatchers and nature lovers. This 35-acre reserve is home to a variety of bird species, as well as a large lake and beautiful tropical gardens.

For history buffs, the George Washington House is a short drive away. This historic site is where the future first U.S. President stayed during his visit to Barbados in 1751. The house has been restored and turned into a museum that offers a glimpse into 18th-century life in Barbados. The Garrison Savannah, a horse racing track that has been in operation since the 1800s, is also nearby. The track hosts regular races and is a great place to experience a unique aspect of Barbadian culture.

The restaurant and nightlife scene in Hastings is vibrant and diverse. Tapas Restaurant is a popular spot that offers a mix of international and local dishes, with a focus on fresh seafood. The restaurant's beachfront location and live music make it a great place for a romantic dinner or a fun night out. Blakey's on the Boardwalk is another popular spot, known for its delicious Caribbean cuisine and lively atmosphere. The restaurant features live music on weekends and is a great place to enjoy the local culture.

For those who enjoy a good drink, Bubba's Sports Bar is a must-visit. This lively bar offers a wide selection of beers and cocktails, as well as a menu of tasty bar food. The bar also features multiple screens showing various sports, making it a great place to catch a game. For a more upscale experience, the Cocktail Kitchen offers a sophisticated atmosphere and a menu of creative cocktails.

Recreational activities in Hastings are centered around the beach and the ocean. Surfing is a popular activity, with the nearby Drill Hall Beach offering great waves for both beginners and experienced surfers. Paddleboarding and kayaking are also popular, with several rental shops located along the beach. For those who prefer to stay on land, the South Coast Boardwalk is a great place for jogging or walking. The boardwalk also features several fitness stations for those who want to get in a workout while enjoying the beautiful ocean views.

For golf enthusiasts, the nearby Rockley Golf Course offers a challenging 9-hole course set in a beautiful tropical landscape. The course also features a clubhouse with a bar and restaurant, making it a great place to spend a day. For a more relaxed activity, the Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary offers birdwatching and nature walks through its beautiful grounds.
