Welcome to Skerries! If you're planning to move to Skerries, congratulations on taking the first step towards a new adventure. While there are many things to think about before you leave, such as visas, housing, and transportation, it's important to remember that once you arrive, the fun really begins. In this article, we'll introduce you to some of the best sites, restaurants, and nightlife that Skerries has to offer, as well as provide tips on recreational activities and making friends in Skerries.

Skerries, a small seaside town in Fingal, Ireland, is a charming destination with a variety of attractions for both tourists and locals. One of the most popular sites is the Skerries Mills, a unique collection of two windmills and a watermill with a mill pond, mill races, and wetlands. Visitors can take a guided tour to learn about the history of milling and enjoy the panoramic views from the top of the windmill. Another must-visit is the Ardgillan Castle, a stunning 18th-century country house with beautiful gardens and a children's playground. The castle offers guided tours, afternoon tea, and hosts various events throughout the year.

For nature lovers, the Skerries Islands are a must-see. The islands are home to a variety of bird species and seals, and boat tours are available for those who want to explore them. The town is also known for its beautiful beaches, such as the South Strand, a long sandy beach perfect for a relaxing day out. The Skerries Harbour is another popular spot, where visitors can watch the local fishermen at work, enjoy a walk along the pier, or simply enjoy the beautiful views of the sea and the islands.

The restaurant and nightlife scene in Skerries is vibrant and diverse, offering something for everyone. One of the most popular restaurants is Stoop Your Head, a family-run seafood restaurant known for its fresh, locally sourced dishes. Another favourite is Blue Bar, a stylish venue with stunning sea views, serving a variety of dishes from burgers to seafood. For those who prefer a more traditional Irish pub experience, Joe May's Pub is a must-visit. Established in 1884, it offers a warm, friendly atmosphere, live music, and a great selection of beers and whiskeys.

For a more upscale dining experience, the Brick House is a popular choice. This award-winning restaurant offers a contemporary menu with a focus on local, seasonal ingredients. The nightlife in Skerries is lively, with a number of pubs and bars offering live music, traditional Irish sessions, and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Some of the most popular include The Snug, The Black Raven, and Ollie's Place.

Recreational activities in Skerries are largely centered around the town's beautiful natural surroundings. Water sports are particularly popular, with the Outdoor Dublin Surf School offering surfing lessons for all ages and abilities. The Skerries Sailing Club is another great option for those interested in water-based activities, offering sailing courses and races.

For those who prefer land-based activities, the Skerries Walking Group organizes regular walks around the local area, providing a great opportunity to explore the town's beautiful scenery and wildlife. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy a round at the Skerries Golf Club, a challenging 18-hole course with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and coastline. Finally, for those who enjoy fishing, the Skerries Sea Angling Club organizes regular fishing trips and competitions.
